Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt is looking to buy six new railroad cars for passengers at the national railway system in the near future, the Egyptian transport minister said on Monday.
The transport ministry has already signed deals to buy 1,300 train vehicles and 250 locomotives to upgrade the Egyptian National Railways (ENR), Kamel El-Wazir added in a statement.
El-Wazir also noted that the ministry is currently upgrading the signals system over 1,100 kiliometres at a combined cost of EGP 12.6 billion.
On Sunday, El-Wazir said that the ministry would add 250 new locomotives to the state’s railway system in a bid to improve services for the citizens and boost the locomotive fleet of the ENR.
