Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian ministry of petroleum said that it is planning to raise the capacity of Middle East Oil Refinery (Midor) in Alexandria by 75% to 175,000 barrels per day, with investments of $2.05 billion.
The ministry announced in its press release on Saturday, the beginning of the experimental operating of phase one of the distillation tower in Midor refinery, with a total investment of $20 million.
As per the statement, the new project helps in increasing the refinery’s capacity in many products such as high-octane gasoline, diesel, liquefied petroleum gas, jet fuel, sulfur and coal by 15%, from 100,000 to 115,000 barrels per day.
The project was completed by the Egyptian oil sector companies, as Enppi provided the designs while Petrojet executed the construction.
According to the CEO of Midor, Mohamed Abd Al-Aziz, it was decided to increase the refinery’s supply of crude oil from 3 million to 3.5 million barrels per month, the statement indicated.
