Egypt to build $225m waste-to-energy plant in Beheira

Cairo - Mubasher: The Beheira Governorate will have a new power plant project, generating electricity from waste treatment, with a total cost of $225 million.

The governorate is currently completing all the required licenses and obtaining the necessary approvals, according to an official statement.

The project will treat 500 tonnes of waste per day, which will be turned into fuel that will generate a capacity reaching 20 megawatt hours.

South Korea’s Global Knowledge Company (GKC) will carry out the project in partnership with GKC - Egypt, in the industrial zone of Al Tarranah in Hosh Essa.

Governor Nadia Abdou met with the company’s representatives to review the project and the agreed upon protocol.

The project will be under the build–operate–transfer (BOT) system, with its ownership completely transferred to the governorate after 25 years, the governorate will also receive rent for the used land.
