Cairo – Mubasher: An opera house is currently being built in the New Administrative Capital to be the biggest in the Middle East, according to Egypt Vision 2030’s Facebook page.
Spanning 42 hectares, the new opera house consists of three main theatres, each will host around 2500 guests, El Moharer reported.
The opera will also feature a contemporary art museum, a movie theatre, and a huge library that can embrace nearly 6000 guests.
The new opera house is set to be fully operational in 2019 after the government and parliament move to the new capital.
In July, the New Administrative Capital’s spokesman Khaled Al-Husseiny said that Egypt's state-run bodies were scheduled to move to the new capital in the second half of 2019.
Built under the supervision of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces, the New Administrative Capital's government district comprises 36 buildings, including the Cabinet's new headquarters, a building for the House of Representatives, and 34 other buildings, one for each ministry.
In October 2016, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said that Egypt was aiming to complete the first phase of the New Administrative Capital in 2018, while all phases shall be completed within five to six years.
During the Egypt Economic Development Conference (EEDC) held in March 2015, Egypt had previously announced the establishment of the New Administrative Capital at a cost of around EGP 45 billion to be paid within five to seven years.
