Cairo – Mubasher: Yusuf Marzouq, head of Baris sub-governorate, New Valley governorate, on Thursday announced establishing a 1000-square-metre farm for breeding scorpions and milking "scorpion venom".
The project will include a scorpion farm and a laboratory for venom extraction, which will create many job opportunities for youth, Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported, citing Marzouq as saying.
Investors were invited to participate in the project, and a group of businessmen visited the place, Marzouq added, noting that the project will commence within the next few days.
The farm is the second of its kind in New Valley, with the first being the scorpion venom farm in Gharb El-Mawhob oasis.
The official gave no further details on the cost of the project.
