Cairo – Mubasher: The General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) has sealed a deal to buy 120,000 tonnes of wheat from the US, on behalf of Egypt’s supply ministry.
The deal has been signed under the ministry’s strategy to form a strategic reserve of wheat.
The US wheat will be shipped in a period between 25 April and 5 May, the GASC said in a statement.
Egypt aims to import 5 million tonnes of wheat in fiscal year 2018/2019, according to the supply ministry.
