Egypt to carry out EGP 1.6bn drinking water projects in Giza – Minister

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt is implementing five drinking water projects in Giza at a total value of EGP 1.565 billion, said minister of housing, utilities, and urban development Mostafa Madbouli.

The projects' total added capacity will reach 430,000 cubic metres per day, Madbouli added, noting that the ministry expects these projects to be completed during 2018.

The minister further revealed that the projects include expanding Atfeeh Water Station for EGP 210 million and raising its capacity to 120,000 cubic metres from its 60,000 cubic metres per day.

A water plant will be built in Manshaet El Qanater with 80,000 cubic metres in capacity at a value of EGP 110 million, in addition to another one in El Hawamdeya with 70,000 cubic metres at a value of EGP 170 million.

The first phase of establishing water stations in Ausim will cost EGP 365 million with a capacity of 60,000 cubic metres daily, while the first phase of Geziret El-Dahab’s plant will cost EGP 710 million and will produce 160,000 cubic metres per day, the minister added.
