Egypt to connect 1,300 villages with fibre optic cables at EGP 5.6bn cost

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, announced a plan to improve the efficiency of information infrastructure across all governorates in a bid to increase internet speeds.

A project will be implemented as part of the first phase of Haya Karima (A Decent Life) initiative to connect more than 1,300 villages with fibre optic cables at a cost of EGP 5.6 billion, Talaat added in a statement on Sunday.

These remarks came during the minister’s meeting with a group of graduates of Future Work is Digital (FWD) initiative launched by the ministry to quality young people for freelance and remote work.
