Egypt to establish EGP 1.5-2bn logistics area in New Valley

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Internal Trade Development Authority (ITDA) signed a protocol of cooperation with the New Valley governorate to develop 100 acres to establish a specialised logistics area for dates.

The logistics area will be established near the airport with investments ranging between EGP 1.5 billion and EGP 2 billion, according to a statement.

The new project will create between 15,000 and 20,000 direct and indirect jobs, the statement added.

The New Valley governorate aims to increase the number of its palm trees to 5 million within the next five years from the current 2.2 million, New Valley governor Mohamed El-Zamlout said.

Although Egypt is the world’s top date producer, the country’s exports of dates are still low compared to other countries, he added.
