Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Shaker, on Sunday said that the ministry is currently working to increase the efficiency of electrical grids at a value exceeding $4 billion.
The developments will be carried out through a comprehensive plan with the aim to improve and develop transmission grids, distribution systems, and smart metres, according to a statement on Sunday.
Shaker further highlighted that frequent blackouts have been completely ended and that the country has a safe power reserve, thanks to the exerted efforts during the past five years in adding more than 28 gigawatt (GW).
The Egyptian government has also contributed to the sector's success, he added, noting that the political stability backed the sector to take some measures and reform policies in line with a new strategy that guarantees securing supply, sustainability, and rational management.
