Egypt to finance GE railway deal with Kuwaiti grant

Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian Prime Minister, Sherif Ismail has approved allocating a KWD 21 million Kuwaiti grant to Egyptian National Railway to the finance the potential deal between the Ministry of Transportation and General Electric (GE).

The deal is valued at $575 million, to manufacture 100 train tractors, and it includes a clause that obligates the Egyptian government to bear 15% of the total finance value ($86 million), while the American will carry out the maintenance of 81 tractors that it previously sold to Egypt.
