Egypt to get $2bn tranche from IMF end-June - Minister

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt will receive the fourth tranche worth $2 billion of the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) $12 billion loan by the end of June 2018.

The IMF’s mission will finish reviewing the Egyptian economic reform programme this week, finance minister Amr El-Garhy said in an interview on CBC TV.

Foreign reserves may increase over the forthcoming months, El-Garhy highlighted, pointing out that the parliament is likely to approve the state budget ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.

The IMF had raised Egypt’s economic growth estimates to 5.2% for the current fiscal year, and to 5.5% in fiscal year 2018/2019.
