Egypt to invest $68.9m to develop neediest villages

Cairo – Mubasher: The planning ministry has allocated EGP 1.2 billion ($68.87 million) for the development of the neediest villages during the fiscal year 2018/2019.

The ministry established a set of criteria for these villages under which the neediest village typically houses over 5,000 people, the planning minister Hala El-Saeed stated on Saturday, according to the Middle East News Agency (MENA).

The government programme to address the development gaps of the neediest countries during the fiscal years 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 in around 413 villages with 6.6 million people, El-Saeed added.

The minister revealed that the programme includes medical centres, MENA reported.
