Egypt to issue EGP 44.25bn T-bills, bonds in two weeks

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s Ministry of Finance plans to issue EGP 44.25 billion in treasury bills and bonds during the first half of January 2017.

In the first week, the offered debt instruments are worth EGP 21.75 billion, while EGP 22.5 billion will be issued in the second week, the ministry said in a statement on Monday.

Treasury bills maturing for 91, 182, 273, and 264 days will be auctioned at EGP 11.75, 11.25, and 9.5 billion respectively.

On the other hand, the ministry intends to issue 5, 7, and10-year bonds at EGP 500 million, along with a three-year bond at EGP 750 million.

During the last quarter of 2016, the ministry cancelled EGP 67.15 billion issuance after securing the IMF loan’s first tranche worth $2.75 billion and thus lowered the amount allocated during this timeframe to EGP 257.5 billion against an estimate of EGP 324.5 billion.
