Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt is bracing for announcing a purchase tender for liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes in the second quarter of 2018, top official at Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Co (EGAS) told Reuters on Tuesday.
The North African state is set to receive the cargoes in Q3-18, the official said.
Egypt’s demand for LNG is projected to diminish this year as production from several gas fields has started. The Arab world's most populous country is seeking to phase out gas import by 2019 to achieve self-sufficiency by the end of 2018.
