Cairo – Mubasher: The price of Cairo Metro’s tickets will rise right after the inauguration of Cairo Metro Line 3’s new stations, in line with completing the installation of Cairo Metro Line 1’s turnstiles.
About 850 turnstiles will be installed in the first and second lines of Cairo Metro within the first quarter of 2018, spokesperson of the National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) Ahmed Abdel Hady added in a broadcast call to Mehwar TV’s “90 Minutes”.
In July, the Egyptian minister of transport Hesham Arafat said that the price of Cairo Metro tickets will raise at a range between EGP 2, EGP 3, and EGP 4 in accordance with the of stations.
Moreover, Abdel Hady further noted that the increase in tickets’ price would achieve social justice in the future.
On 23 March, Egypt doubled the price of Cairo’s metro tickets after getting the Cabinet approval.
