Cairo – Mubasher: The head of the Egyptian minting authority Mohammed El-Sobky said the government has imported a new machine to increase the minting of one-pound coins by an average of 4 million coins per month, or around 48 million coins per year, to meet the market's needs.
The current pace of coin minting ranges between EGP 2.5 and 3 million coins per month, El-Sobky added in a statement released by the Ministry of Finance (MoF) on Wednesday.
He also pointed out that the authority is now finalising the procedures of launching the commemorative coins museum soon, which will include historical coins from different ages.
