Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt is expecting to receive the fifth tranche of the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) $12 billion loan in February, the country’s finance minister Mohamed Maait said on Saturday.
After the disbursement of the fifth instalment of the loan, which is the penultimate, Egypt would have received $10 billion, Maait revealed, according to Youm7.
The International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) managing director Christine Lagarde stated that she would recommend the approval of the fourth review of Egypt’s $12 billion loan programme.
Earlier in January, the Central Bank of Egypt’s (CBE) governor Tarek Amer said that a $2 billion postponed instalment of the IMF loan was expected to be received “late January or very early February, at the latest”.
