Egypt to set up 1st high-speed railway in 30M

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian transport ministry is planning to complete the implementation of the first high-speed railway within a 300-month period, deputy transport minister said.

The ministry has set 15 March to conduct technical and financial offers for setting up the high-speed rail in Egypt, Egypt Today reported, citing Amr Shaat.

The rail is set to extend from Ain Sokhna to New El Alamein City and will be used for transporting both passengers and goods, Shaat added.

In 2018, Egypt’s transport minister Hisham Arafat stated that over 10 international companies were involved in the high-speed rail construction tender process without giving any names.

In the same vein, the government announced a new plan to develop Egyptian ports to be executed by the Arab Academy for Science and Technology in partnership with Germany’s Hamburg port.

Moreover, Egypt is currently coordinating with China to construct a light railway that links Cairo to the New Administration Capital.
