Egypt tops orange exporters to China

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt has topped orange exporters to China, with the North African country’s orange exports to the Chinese markets were valued at $140 million, head of the Central Administration of Plant Quarantine at the Egyptian agriculture ministry, Ahmed El-Attar, stated on Tuesday.

Egypt also exported grapes and date to China, El-Attar said, adding that exporting of Egyptian Pomegranate to China is set to begin in 2020.

It is worth noting that Egyptian exported more than 1.7 million tonnes of citrus in 2019, whereas the total volume of agricultural exports exceeded 5.5 million tonnes.

Egypt is considered one of the biggest exporters of orange in the world.
