Egypt tourist arrivals decline 46% in February - CAPMAS

Cairo – Mubasher: The number of tourists visited Egypt in February 2016 fell by 45.9% year-over-year to 346,500 from 640,200 tourists, said Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Monday.

The agency partly attributed this decline to the Russian flight ban to Egyptian resorts following the latest airplane crash in Sinai.

The majority of tourists came from Eastern Europe by 39.7%, while Germany headed the countries sent tourists to Egypt by 38.5%.

The Middle East came in third place with 26.7%.

Saudi Arabia has the largest share in sending tourists by 25.8% out of the total number of tourists from the Middle East.
