Cairo – Mubasher: The value of non-oil trade exchange between Egypt and Algeria declined by 8% during the first nine months of 2019.
Egyptian trade with Algeria went down to $627 million from January to September 2019, compared to $683 million in the year-ago period, according to a report released by the Egyptian Commercial Service on Wednesday.
Egypt’s merchandise exports to Algeria rose by 12% year-on-year to $433 million, while Egyptian imports from the North African country dropped 29.5% to $193 million in the January-September period, from $274 million a year earlier.
Moreover, Egypt’s non-oil trade surplus with Algeria soared to $241 million in the nine-month period ended 30 September, against $21 million the year before.
It is worth noting that non-oil trade exchange between Egypt and Algeria went up by 24.3% during the first six months of 2019, recording $429.2 million.
