Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt is considering establishing the biggest plant for gelatine production in the Middle East in coordination with major German firms.
The project is being discussed by Egyptian deputy agriculture minister for Livestock, Fisheries and Poultry Mona Mehrez, the advisor to trade minister Yasser El-Maghraby, and representative of the German companies.
The plant will be built by an Egyptian-German consortium comprised of Cairo Investment, a German company, and a number of local private-sector tanneries in Roubiki area, state-run news agency MENA reported, citing El-Maghraby.
Egypt had been planning to build the biggest plant for medical and halal gelatine production in the Middle East since August 2018, El-Maghraby indicated, adding that the plant is set for construction within a two-year period.
