Cairo – Mubasher: Bilateral foreign trade value between Egypt and Germany stood at €5 billion in 2015, from €4.4 billion a year earlier, said Minister of Trade and Industry Tareq Qabil.
In the German-Egyptian Business Forum, the minister said trading volume between the two countries is steadily growing; however, investment value is not still as big as the aspirations of the two countries.
Earlier, he indicated in a press release that German investments in Egypt are €600 million. Moreover, around 978 German companies are hands-on in the Egyptian market.
German Vice Chancellor and Economy Minister Sigmar Gabriel met with Egyptian President in Cairo to offer Germany's help in boosting Egypt's border security as Egypt wants to improve its border defenses to prevent weapons smuggling.
According to Deutsche Welle, Gabriel said "we announced our willingness to cooperate", before adding “Germany did not make any concrete financial promises to Egypt”.
