Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian National Railways incurred around EGP 5.6 billion in losses during fiscal year 2017/2018, the head of transport committee at the parliament said.
The authority could raise its revenues by improving the services within the coming months on the back of appointing a new transport minister, Hisham Abdel Wahed stressed.
Abdel Wahed highlighted the importance of completing the ongoing projects, mainly the development of the railways’ internal routes.
The government supports the national railways' authority and its restructuring programme to maintain the under-construction projects that started three years ago, he indicated.
On the other hand, head of the housing and development committee at the parliament Alaa Wali has called for the provision of an EGP 2.5 billion financing for suspended wastewater treatment projects.
Wali said that these projects would not be finished this year as long as the financing is not available,
