Egyptian Refining project to begin operating in 2017

Cairo - Mubasher: The chairman of Citadel Capital, Ahmed Heikal, said on Sunday that trial operations for the Egyptian Refining Company’s (ERC) project are expected to be begin by the end of 2017.

The project is expected to operate with full capacity by May 2018, Heikal added.

Investments in this project amount to nearly $3.7 billion of which $2.8 billion have already been spent since the beginning of the project's execution until now.

The project contributes to covering Greater Cairo with petroleum products, and to use the full capacity of storage warehouses and refineries, with an annual fuel production target of 4.1 million tonnes.
