Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt-based SICO Technology announced it has exported the first shipment of its domestically-manufactured smartphones to the UAE.
The technology and handset manufacturer has exported over 1,000 devices as the first stage of an ongoing process after obtaining the approval of the UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), chairman Mohamed Salem said.
The company is selling its products in accordance with its strategy in the local market, Salem added, pointing out that the company has sold over 200,000 devices since launching in the Egyptian market last February.
SICO, the first Egyptian brand specialised in the field of mobile phones, aims to sell nearly 1.5 million mobile phones in the first year of operation, he noted.
Salem added that the company manufactures around 50,000 devices a month at its new factory in the Upper Egypt governorate of Assiut.
SICO had officially launched its products last February by offering eight models of Egypt’s first smartphone brand in the Egyptian market.
