Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian agriculture ministry has denied rumours suggesting that it is considering moving the Giza Zoo to another location.
The ministry has also revealed it is currently working on developing the zoo in coordination with the civil community.
Established in 1891, the Giza Zoo is one of the most important monuments in the history of Egypt and is the largest zoo in the Middle East and one of the oldest zoos in Africa as it was called "the crown jewel of African zoos", deputy minister of agriculture Mona Mehrez said on Tuesday.
Mehrez noted that the ministry is planning to build new zoos in the governorates of Egypt and develop the old ones, according to the state-run news agency MENA.
