Egyptian banks' deposits rise 1.6% in September - CBE

Cairo – Mubasher: Total bank deposits rose by 1.6% or EGP 52 billion month-on-month in September 2017, according to data by the Central Bank of Egypt.

Total deposits stood at EGP 3.17 trillion at the end of September from EGP 3.12 trillion in August, the CBE highlighted.

Government deposits in local currency reached about EGP 415.9 billion in September from EGP 421.1 billion in August.

Meanwhile, deposits in foreign currencies amounted to EGP 108.8 billion in September, up from EGP 108.2 billion in August, according to the statement.

The CBE last posted that Egypt’s foreign reserves slightly surged to $37.109 billion at the end of December from $36.723 billion in November.
