Egyptian banks' foreign deposits hit EGP 716.4bn in May - CBE

Cairo – Mubasher: Banks' total foreign-currency deposits increased by 4.4% year-on-year at the end of May to register EGP 716.4 billion from EGP 685.9 billion.

On a monthly basis, deposits in foreign currencies rose slightly from around EGP 697.5 billion in April, according to a statement by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) on Monday.

It is worth noting that Egypt’s international reserves increased to $44.138 billion at the end of May from $44.029 billion in December 2017.
