Cairo – Mubasher: Total foreign-currency deposits at Egyptian banks increased by 9.6% year-on-year in August, recording EGP 728.8 billion from EGP 664.4 billion.
On a monthly basis, deposits in foreign currencies rose slightly from around EGP 724.9 billion at the end of July, data by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) showed.
Foreign reserves of the most populous Arab country rose to $44.41 billion at the end of August, versus $44.31 billion in July.
It is worth noting that Egypt's foreign reserves stood at around $36 billion ahead of the January 25 Revolution in 2011.
