Egyptian banks’ foreign deposits rise 9% in November – CBE

Cairo – Mubasher: Total foreign-currency deposits at Egyptian banks rose for the second month in a row by 9.4% year-on-year in November 2018, data by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) showed on Wednesday.

Egyptian lenders’ foreign-currency deposits totalled EGP 735.12 billion at the end of November, versus EGP 671.8 billion in the same month a year earlier, the central bank highlighted.

Month-on-month, bank deposits in foreign currencies rose slightly last November, compared to EGP 734.2 billion at the end of October, the CBE added.

The CBE previously posted that Egypt’s foreign reserves rose to $44.51 billion at the end of November.
