Cairo – Mubasher: Total foreign currency deposits at Egyptian banks declined by 9%, or EGP 5.962 billion, month-on-month in December 2019.
Deposits went down to EGP 655.086 billion in December, compared to EGP 661.048 billion in November, according to data from the Central Bank of Egypt.
Moreover, foreign deposits at banks operating in Egypt decreased by 11.9% year-on-year in December, from EGP 743.542 billion a year earlier.
Egypt’s domestic liquidity grew to EGP 4.11 trillion at the end of December, from EGP 3.62 trillion in the year-ago period.
