Egyptian court rules in favor of Uber, Careem

Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian State Lawsuits Authority has recommended cancelling the ruling that suspended the activities of transportation service providers Uber and Careem in its legal report regarding the appeal against the Administrative Court’s decision.

The Appeals Chamber of the State Council’s Supreme Administrative Court to postpone its decision regarding the appeal by the e-taxi companies to next Saturday.

The chamber attributed its decision to further review of legal documents.

Back in March, the Administrative Court issued a ruling to suspend the operations of Uber and Careem.

The services of the two ride-hailing firms had caused outrage among local taxi drivers, who complained that the drivers did not need to pay the taxes and fees required to operate transportation vehicles, considering their services anticompetitive practices.
