Egyptian exports to Russia leap 34.8% in 2017

Cairo - Mubasher: Egypt’s exports to Russia hiked 34.8% year-on-year to $504.6 million in 2017, compared to $374 million, the Egyptian trade and industry minister said in a statement on Tuesday.

The North African nation’s imports from Russia surged 64.3% to $6.21 billion in 2017 from $3.78 billion in the year before, Amr Nassar added.

He stressed the importance of narrowing trade balance deficit between the two nations, which is in the favour of Russia, along with operationalising the Egyptian-Russian Business Council to boost bilateral trade between Cairo and Moscow.

The statements came on the sidelines of a meeting between the Egyptian minister, who is visiting Moscow to sign the free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), and his Russian counterpart Denis Manturov.
