Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's merchandise exports to Russia increased 35% during 2017, compared to the prior year, Tarek Kabil, Minister of Trade and Industry said on Saturday.
The value of Egypt’s exports to Russian market hit $504.6 million during 2017, compared to $374.1 million during 2016, Kabil added on in a statement.
Rise in exports was attributed to an increase in vegetables and fresh fruit exports by 39%, reaching $375.5 million in 2017, as well as a 115% growth in food products to hit about $21 million, Head of the Egyptian Commercial Service Ahmed Antar said.
Exports of household devices to Russian market soared 600% during 2017 to $28.3 million, and medical industries’ exports jumped by 48%, reaching about $10.5 million, Antar added.
Egypt’s exports to Russia include potato, orange, engineering commodities, ceramic, food industries, medical industries, and furniture, Nasser Hamed, head of the Egyptian Commercial Office in Moscow concluded.
