Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s exports to Russia have increased by 11.5% year-on-year in the first six months of 2018, the Ministry of Trade and Industry revealed on Sunday.
Between January and June, exports rose to $402.4 million from $360.6 million in the same period of 2017, the ministry’s data showed, indicating that the industrial and agricultural sectors made the largest contributions to the exports.
The industrial sector, including home appliances, registered a 224% surge to $14.66 million in exports to Russia in H1-18 from $4.53 million in the year-ago period, while detergents and soap exports jumped 147% year-on-year to $3.7 million from $1.5 million in H1-17.
Crochet clothes and knitwear exports grew 41.8% to $5.73 million in the six-month period ended 30 June from $4 million in the same period of 2017, the data showed.

Exports of Egyptian-made carpets, home furniture, and food products, also registered sharp increases in H1-18, the ministry said, noting that exports of frozen strawberries topped the food products imported by Russia, after surging 142% to $13.26 million in H1-18 from $5.47 million in the corresponding period of 2017.
The ministry previously said that Egypt’s non-oil exports had increased by 14.3% to $14.89 billion in the first seven months of 2018 from $13.25 billion in the same period of 2017.
