Egyptian gov’t procures drug for rare disease affecting children

Cairo – Mubasher: Egyptian Cabinet has approved a deal between the health ministry and foreign pharmaceutical company, according to a statement released on Wednesday.

The EGP 209 million deal includes the procurement of Cerezyme drug for children suffering from Gaucher disease, which is a rare inherited metabolic disorder.

The deal is aimed at the improvement of the quality of medical services provided to Egyptian citizens, along with the upgrade of the healthcare system, the Cabinet said.

In May 2019, the Egyptian Cabinet approved an EGP 215 million contract between the health ministry and Sanofi Aventis for the procurement of Cerezyme drug.
