Cairo – Mubasher: Local-currency deposits at Egyptian banks went up by EGP 77.56 billion ($4.68 billion) month-on-month in June 2019.
Deposits denominated in local currency increased to EGP 2.66 trillion at the end of June, compared to EGP 2.58 trillion a month earlier, data released by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) revealed.
Year-on-year, local-currency deposits grew by 15.8% in June, from EGP 2.298 trillion in the year-ago period.
It is noteworthy that foreign currency reserves of Egypt stood at $44.35 billion at the end of June, compared to $44.27 billion in the previous month.
