Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian pound fell by 3-5 piasters against U.S dollar in the parallel market, according to four traders in exchange bureaus preferred to remain anonymous.

U.S dollar settled at EGP10.25 for buy and EGP10.30 for sale, compared to EGP10.23 for buy and EGP10.27 for sale on Wednesday, said one of the traders.

Another trader told Mubasher that U.S dollar is exchanged at EGP10.27 for buy and EGP10.32 for sale, indicating that the market pace daily swings between slacks and high demands.

In Minya, the exchange rate of U.S dollar stood at lower rates, which are EGP10.21 for buy and EGP10.31 for sale,  said a senior official of an Exchange Bureau in the Governorate.

The official exchange rate still stands at EGP8.83 per dollar for buy and EGP8.88 per dollar for sale, according online data by the Central Bank of Egypt.

The central bank regulations allow exchange bureaus to sell the dollar 15 piasters higher than the official rate.
