Egyptians vote in 2nd round of parliamentary elections

Cairo – Mubasher: The second round of Egypt’s parliamentary elections kicked off Sunday across thirteen governorates, with a total number of registered voters reaching 28.2 million.

These governorates are Cairo, Suez, Kafr El Sheikh, Ismailia, Port Said, Dakahlia, Qaliybia, South Sinai, North Sinai, Sharqiya, Damietta, Monoufia and Gharbia.

Voting rate in the election’s first phase reached 21.7%.

The polling process is taking place amid tightened security measures, amid supervision by judges.

The new parliament will comprise 568 elected members - 448 elected on an individual basis and 120 through winner-takes-all lists.
