Eight banks approach CBE to get QR Code licences

By: Eslam Fadl

Cairo – Mubasher: Eight banks have approached the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) to obtain a licence for introducing the QR Code technology, banking sources told Mubasher.

These lenders include the National Bank of Egypt (NBE), Banque Misr, Banque Du Caire, Credit Agricole, and Qatar National Bank Al Ahli, the sources highlighted.

The QR Code is an easy and safe way to conduct and accept e-payment without the need to points of sale, the sources added.

The CBE had issued the acceptance standards of e-payments through the QR Code earlier this year.
