El Nashar named EFSA deputy chairman

Cairo – Mubasher: Egyptian prime minister Sherif Ismail has appointed councilor Khalid El Nashar as vice chairman at the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority (EFSA).

Ismail’s appointment came after issuing the decision no. 2125 of 2017, according to a statement released late Sunday.

Meanwhile, minister of investment and international cooperation Sahar Nasr commented that the appointment was part of the government’s framework to continue working on its regulatory infrastructure for all government bodies, whether supervisory or financial.

The EFSA is also working on drawing up a fully integrated strategy for financial non-banking instruments by bolstering the financial non-banking sector in Egypt and accordingly the economy, Nasr revealed.

More EFSA appointments are set to be made in November, the minister highlighted in the statement, noting that the EFSA is set to play a major role in introducing new financial instruments to the Egyptian money market.

PM Sherif Ismail had previously appointed Mohamed Omran as EFSA’s acting chairman until new decisions and appointments were made.

In August, Nasr revealed that councilor Reda AbdelMoaty had been appointed EFSA chairman after his predecessor Sherif Samy’s term ended.
