Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stated that the agreement signed with Russia to build the country's first nuclear power plant is aimed for a 'peaceful' nuclear program.
The statement came during a ceremony following the signing of an agreement by Egypt's Minister of Electricity and Energy Mohamed Shaker and the Director General of Russia's Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation Sergey Kirienko for the collaboration in the construction and operation of a nuclear power plant equipped with four NPP units with capacity of 1200 MW each on Egypt’s territory.
El-Sisi also congratulated the Egyptian people on the new achievement, saying that the agreement followed more than one year of receiving offers to build the nuclear power plant.
The President expected the first two reactors to be completed in nine years.
