El-Sisi calls off sales deal with Islamic Development Bank

Cairo – Mubasher: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has cancelled a presidential decree on a sale agreement between the Egyptian government and Saudi-based Islamic Development Bank (IDB) that was initiated on 14 January 2013.

Under the agreement, Egypt was assigned to purchase equipment on behalf of the bank and sell it to an agent to be used in the construction of the educational hospital of Al-Azhar University, state-run news agency MENA reported.

This decision had been approved by the Parliament on 25 July 2018.
