Cairo – Mubasher: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has given the start signal for launching a project to cultivate an area of 1.5 million feddans by late December, according to a Cabinet statement.
The project stands for a starting point to move out of the over-populated old valley and boost the country’s agricultural space by 20% from 8 million feddans currently to 9.5 million feddans, added the statement.
Prime Minister Sherif Ismail stressed that the project is targeted at narrowing the food gap and increase the area of populated area according to confirmed scientific studies and plan.
He added that the project will witness the implementation of latest technologies in irrigation and solar power sectors.
The Premier also noted that the project would cover large areas across the country, especially in Upper Egypt and South Sinai in addition to the Delta.
