Dubai – Mubasher: Finland-based elevator maker KONE announced the inauguration of its first regional distribution centre (RDC) in Dubai South Freezone (DWC).
As the key distribution point of KONE and Non-KONE spare parts in the Middle East and Africa region, the new RDC aims to enhance KONE’s maintenance capability by increasing spare parts availability and cutting lead-time, according to a statement.
Opened 20 March, the RDC in Dubai will allow KONE to improve its “service level and to accelerate the response time to customer requirements,” regional managing director for KONE Middle East and Africa, Samer Halabi, said.
The RDC is being operated by DB Schenker and managed by KONE Global Spares Supply (GSS).
Buildings in the region usually necessitate high-level service and customer-specific maintenance requirements, the statement added.
“Customers expect faster service and virtually no downtime, especially in these high-profile buildings, and KONE needs to be able to deliver that,” KONE Global Spares Supply’s (GSS) vice president, Riku Kemppi, noted.
