Elsewedy Education, UK’s Coventry University to establish EGP7bn university in new capital

Cairo – Mubasher: Elsewedy Education has signed a strategic partnership with the British Coventry University to establish a university in the New Administrative Capital.

The Egyptian firm has earmarked around EGP 6 billion to EGP 7 billion in investments for setting up its first project, the Knowledge International Hub, the chairman of Elsewedy Education said.

The university will be built in up to 10 years and will be financed by the company, as well as through credit facilities from some of the local banks, Ahmed Elsewedy told Mubasher.

The company is currently in talks with a number of local lenders, Elsewedy added, pointing out that the first phase of the project is set to start next September.

He further noted that the university is to embrace up to 15,000 students by 2028.

For his part, the project’s manager Hani Zaki said that almost 27% of the university’s construction work was completed.

Zaki also added that the first phase of the project spans 27,000 metres.
