Cairo – Mubasher: Elsewedy Electric Co has signed a contract with South Sudan’s Ministry of Energy and Dams to build a $45 million hybrid photovoltaic project with a battery storage system.
The project is planned to be located on 250,000 square metre land near Nesitu County, 20 kilometres from South Sudanese capital Juba, according to a bourse statement released on Wednesday.
The contract includes engineering, procurement, and installation of the project in turkey-basis. The project is scheduled to be operational in 12 months.
The new plant is set to produce 29 million kilowatts/hour of clean energy that will supply energy to over 58,000 South Sudanese households, cutting 12,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
“At Elsewedy Electric, we realised that reliable power and water supply is the key to developing economies and we will deploy all-out global resources in ensuring south Sudan and its people to unlock their full potential,” Elsewedy’s president and CEO Ahmed Elsewedy said.
