Elsewedy in talks over merging 2 wind projects in Egypt

Cairo – Mubasher: Elsewedy Electric is in talks with the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) over merging two projects in Egypt in collaboration with Japanese and Emirati firms.

The largest listed cable company in the Arab world will reveal more details regarding this matter and the project cost when they reach an agreement, according to a statement to the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) on Thursday.

The final value of the aforementioned project has not been set yet, the statement added.

The project includes merging the establishment of a wind power plant in the Gulf of Suez and a wind power plant in Ras Gharib in coordination with Japan’s Marubeni and the UAE’s Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar).

In January, A consortium of Egypt’s Elsewedy Electric, Marubeni Corporation, and Masdar signed a preliminary agreement to merge and develop two wind energy projects in Egypt.
